InstaDiag Breast: Speeding Up the Diagnosis of Breast Abnormalities
A breast abnormality detected during a clinical examination or imaging test may require prompt specialist evaluation. Established in 2004, InstaDiag Sein brings together, all in a single day, the consultations and tests needed to determine the nature of the abnormality and establish an accurate diagnosis. This care pathway coordinates the involvement of professionals specializing in breast diseases: radiologists, surgeons, pathologists, nurses, and other professionals involved in organizing the evaluation[1,2].
InstaDiag Breast—what is it?
InstaDiag Breast is a rapid diagnostic pathway. It is not a single test, but rather a coordinated process designed to perform, within a short timeframe, the tests necessary to evaluate a breast abnormality.
For patients diagnosed with a malignant tumor, an initial treatment plan is proposed on the same day.

-
87%
In a study involving more than 10,000 patients, a reliable diagnosis was provided on the same day for 87% of breast lesions presenting as a mass[3].
-
More than 20,000 female patients
Since its launch in 2004, the one-day breast cancer screening program has served more than 20,000 patients, according to a publication by the Ministry of Higher Education and Research[4].
-
An initial diagnostic consultation: The doctor reviews the test results already obtained, the patient’s medical history, and the reason for the visit.
-
Coordinated exams: Relevant exams are scheduled throughout the day, depending on the situation and the available materials.
-
Specialized analysis: The results are interpreted by professionals who are experts in breast diseases.
-
An initial assessment: the available results are explained, along with the next steps: monitoring, additional tests, or treatment.
The process may include, among other things:
-
a mammogram, which is an X-ray of the breasts;
-
a breast ultrasound, which uses ultrasound waves;
-
tomosynthesis, which provides more detailed images;
-
an angiomammogram, performed with the injection of a contrast agent;
-
a blood test;
-
a fine-needle aspiration, which collects cells;
-
a biopsy, which involves removing a tissue sample.
These tests are not routine. They are ordered based on the abnormality detected, the test results already available, and the medical evaluation conducted on the day of the appointment.
Who is InstaDiag Sein intended for?
InstaDiag Breast is intended for individuals in whom a suspicious breast abnormality has been detected, for example, during a clinical examination or imaging test. This may include a lump, an unusual finding on a mammogram or ultrasound, or a situation requiring prompt specialist evaluation. It is used after an abnormality has been discovered and does not replace organized breast cancer screening, which is intended for women who meet the criteria defined by national guidelines.
Useful documents include consultation reports, previously performed imaging studies, the corresponding images, and, when available, the results of samples or biopsies. These documents help in preparing the evaluation and, whenever possible, avoid repeating certain tests.
In most cases, you do not need to fast before a consultation or breast exams. However, specific instructions may be provided depending on the scheduled tests.
The evaluation may take several hours. Appointments and tests are scheduled back-to-back as much as possible, but there may be wait times throughout the day.
Yes. You may bring someone of your choice with you. Their presence can be helpful in providing support, helping you remember the information shared, and assisting you in your discussions with the medical team.
After the diagnosis: What's the next step?
Following the evaluation, several scenarios are possible. Follow-up may be recommended if the abnormality is not cause for concern. Further tests may be necessary if the initial results are inconclusive. If cancer is diagnosed, the next steps in care are coordinated with a team specializing in breast cancer.
Schedule an appointment for InstaDiag Breast
The InstaDiag Breast care pathway is intended for individuals with a suspicious breast abnormality requiring a specialist evaluation. If your situation meets the criteria for this pathway, you may submit a request for an appointment along with your available medical records so that our teams can evaluate your request and arrange the necessary tests.
