Patient Experience and Partnership

At Gustave Roussy, the experiences of patients and caregivers are a key source of improvement in patient care. Through satisfaction surveys, participatory initiatives, and the involvement of patient partners, the Institute is developing an approach based on listening, dialogue, and the collaborative development of projects. The lived experiences and experiential knowledge of patients and caregivers thus help improve care pathways, practices, and organizational structures.

The e-Satis National Survey

The national e-Satis survey is intended for patients who have been hospitalized for more than 48 hours or who have undergone outpatient surgery.

You will be invited by email to share your views on the quality of your care through a completely anonymous online questionnaire.

Your participation is not mandatory but is important because it helps us continuously improve our services and the quality and safety of your care.

The Patient-Caregiver Partnership

For several years now, Gustave Roussy has been committed to recognizing and valuing the lived experiences of patients and caregivers, as well as their experiential knowledge, through the Patients and Caregivers Committee.

As part of the 2030 Institutional Strategic Plan, this commitment has been strengthened with the creation of a steering body: the Patient Experience Collective. This body brings together representatives from the Institute’s leadership, Institute staff, patients, patient advocacy groups, and members of the Patient and Caregiver Partners Committee.

Incorporated into the 2026–2030 Institutional Plan, this commitment reaffirms the Institute’s dedication to developing and strengthening its partnership with patients and caregivers.

Gustave Roussy Children's Council

Adult patient committees have been established in cancer treatment centers since 2004. However, many children and adolescents walk through the doors of these centers every year, whether to receive treatment themselves or to visit their loved ones. Because their voices matter, the parents’ association Les Amis de Mikhy and Gustave Roussy established France’s first hospital-based Children’s Council in 2016.

Composed of healthcare professionals, sick children, siblings of sick children, and children of sick parents, the council meets three times a year on Wednesday afternoons to improve the care provided to children in the hospital. It allows children to:

  • share their opinions on how to make their hospital stay better
  • share their ideas for improving care
  • participate in the implementation of concrete projects

A true space for collaborative exchange, the Gustave Roussy Children’s Council gives children a full and equal role in improving their experience and care at the hospital. Regardless of their status—whether as a patient or a family member—they can express their views, contribute to concrete projects, and help improve overall care, while feeling more involved in their own care journey.

In particular, the Children’s Council has produced a series of videos designed to explain to healthcare professionals how to communicate more effectively with them.
