Paris-Saclay Cancer Cluster
The Paris-Saclay Cancer Cluster, co-founded by Gustave Roussy, brings together leading players in oncology within a single consortium. It aims to accelerate innovation in access to treatments, care pathways, and quality of life.
What is the Paris-Saclay Cancer Cluster?
The Paris-Saclay Cancer Cluster (PSCC) is a nonprofit scientific cooperation foundation co-founded in 2022 by Gustave Roussy, Paris-Saclay University, the Institut Polytechnique, Inserm, and Sanofi. Major partners soon joined this consortium: Unicancer, the Institut Curie, Assistance publique – Hôpitaux de Paris (AP-HP), and Medicen Paris Region.
The PSCC thus brings together the major players in oncology: research organizations, universities, hospitals, startups, pharmaceutical companies, institutional investors, service providers, and patient associations.

Position France as one of the world leaders in oncology
Unique in Europe in terms of its size and scope, the PSCC is fully aligned with the “France 2030” Plan announced by Emmanuel Macron in 2021. It aims to position France among the world leaders in oncology.
Many goals
The PSCC has several objectives:
- To facilitate the transformation of oncology research into French industrial innovation
- To boost the economy by creating jobs
- To help startups grow
- Attracting talent and investors
- To accelerate the pace of innovation in oncology for the benefit of patients living with cancer by supporting startups in their development
PSCC Governance
The Paris-Saclay Cancer Cluster is made up of several councils and committees.
The Board of Directors is composed of professionals from the scientific, academic, industrial, and institutional sectors.
Composed of international experts recognized for their scientific excellence and experience in establishing clusters, the SAB advises the Board of Directors on its strategy.
The PEC brings together experts from academia and industry. It evaluates projects that apply for support and makes recommendations to the Board of Directors.
Composed of representatives from the hospital, industrial, and academic sectors, the data committee oversees the PSCC’s strategy in this area.
The Investment Committee is composed of independent experts who evaluate the PSCC's investments, particularly those related to technology platforms.
Composed of independent experts, the audit committee oversees the PSCC’s operations and ensures that its legal and accounting management processes comply with regulations.
The Ethics Committee brings together independent multidisciplinary experts and makes recommendations on ethical issues related to the PSCC.
Initiatives structured around four key areas
The PSCC works to advance innovation in oncology by building on four main pillars.
Events are regularly organized to share knowledge and foster connections among researchers, practitioners, academics, entrepreneurs, industry representatives, patient advocacy groups, and investors.
A hub of excellence, the PSCC incorporates a collaboration platform. It features a one-stop shop to facilitate access to experts.
With its specialized technical facilities and expert support, the PSCC offers services and technologies that drive innovation.
Artificial intelligence algorithms facilitate storage and analysis infrastructure.
DART
The first European platform for alphatherapy
Among the projects supported by the PSCC, two are based at Gustave Roussy. This is notably the case for the DART alphatherapy platform, led by Professors Désirée Déandréis and Eric Deutsch.
Alpha therapy is a form of radiation therapy that combines lead-212 with biological molecules such as peptides or antibodies to target receptors or antigens on cancer cells. This platform aims to accelerate the development of this treatment in order to offer patients a new therapeutic option.
Thanks to its precision, alphatherapy delivers a very high dose of radiation directly to tumor cells while minimizing exposure to surrounding healthy tissue. This approach could thus improve the effectiveness of treatments, particularly for certain advanced cancers or those resistant to conventional therapies, while reducing certain side effects.
InnPROGRESS
The Early-Phase Clinical Trials Platform
The second project supported by the Paris-Saclay Cancer Cluster and led by Gustave Roussy is InnPROGRESS, headed by Prof. Benjamin Besse, Guylène Chartier, head of the Projects and Promotion Office, and Thibault Raoult, clinical project manager.
InnPROGRESS aims to enable key opinion leaders to support the development of clinical trials by offering them the opportunity to sponsor studies.
Research Platforms and Data Management
At Gustave Roussy, the research platforms are grouped within the Joint Services Unit (UMS) for Molecular Analysis, Modeling, and Imaging of Cancer (AMMICa), which also supports the PSCC.
As part of a clinical trial, Gustave Roussy’s data management division produces a dataset of verified and consistent data, which enables statistical analyses to be conducted.
