National Partnerships: A Network of Excellence Serving Patients
Networking among experts enables those working in the field of oncology to address the growing complexity of cancers. Gustave Roussy draws on an extensive network of hospital, academic, medical-social, and regional partners to make excellence accessible to as many people as possible. From local care to the most specialized treatments, these collaborations streamline care pathways, facilitate the sharing of expertise, advance research, and ensure that every patient has access to the right care, at the right time, and in the right place.
Working Together to Better Address the Challenges of Cancer
As the leading cause of death in France, cancer requires a collective mobilization of expertise. True to its mission as a center of excellence and innovation, Gustave Roussy has been developing strategic partnerships with healthcare stakeholders throughout the country for many years.
This strategy is fully aligned with the goals of the 2026–2030 institutional plan. The Institute aims to focus its expertise on the most complex stages of the patient journey while strengthening collaborations with local healthcare professionals and facilities. This approach ensures greater continuity of care, facilitates patient referrals, and enables the wider dissemination of medical innovations.
These partnerships are based on a strong conviction: excellence is measured as much by the quality of care provided as by the ability to share its expertise with the entire healthcare system for the benefit of patients.
A network of partners working closely with patients
The medical partnerships developed by Gustave Roussy cover the entire continuum of care. They bring together cancer centers, university hospitals, post-acute care and rehabilitation facilities, home hospitalization services, palliative care providers, and numerous public, private, and nonprofit organizations.
The goal is twofold: to enable patients to receive specialized care when needed and, whenever possible, to ensure follow-up care as close to their homes as possible.
These partnerships facilitate, in particular:
- access to the expertise of Gustave Roussy’s teams;
- the organization of specialized referrals;
- participation in multidisciplinary consultation meetings;
- the sharing of rare expertise;
- the development of joint research projects;
- support for healthcare professionals.
This network-based approach helps streamline care pathways and ensure coordinated care among the various stakeholders involved in cancer treatment.
A regional network to bring expertise closer together
To ensure access to oncology expertise throughout the country, medical collaborations are being established at the regional and national levels with public, private nonprofit, and private cancer centers, as well as with providers of medical and rehabilitation care, home hospitalization services, and palliative care. Collaborations are organized with specialized centers, including participation in Gustave Roussy’s multidisciplinary consultation meetings, on-site consultations, clinical and research partnerships, and shared staff.
Gustave Roussy’s network of partnerships is built on numerous collaborations with institutions in the Île-de-France region, including the Paris Saclay University Hospital (GHU Paris Saclay), Bicêtre Hospital, the Sud-Francilien and Nord-Essonne hospital groups, the Marie-Lannelongue and Saint-Louis Hospitals, and the Adolphe de Rothschild Foundation.
The Institute is also developing national partnerships, notably with the Auxerre Hospital Center and through the South Corsica Health Cooperation Group.
Particular attention is paid to pediatric oncology, a field in which Gustave Roussy coordinates a national network to ensure that children and adolescents with cancer have rapid access to the most specialized expertise
These organizations help to better distribute expertise, develop advanced consultations, facilitate specialized consultations, and strengthen medical and scientific collaborations for the benefit of patients.
