Endocrine Tumor Committee

Director: Dr. Julien Hadoux

Multidisciplinary expertise in endocrine cancers

The Endocrine Tumors Committee brings together specialists involved in the diagnosis and treatment of thyroid and adrenal gland cancers, as well as neuroendocrine tumors. These diseases can develop in various organs and exhibit a wide range of behaviors. Some produce hormones, which requires specific evaluation and management.

Each case is discussed in a multidisciplinary setting to tailor the treatment strategy to the nature of the tumor, its degree of differentiation, its extent, its potential hormonal activity, and the patient’s condition.

Types of Cancer Treated

  • Thyroid Cancers:
Differentiated, medullary, and anaplastic cancers, particularly advanced or refractory forms
  • Neuroendocrine carcinomas:
Poorly differentiated forms, which are generally more aggressive and require a specific treatment strategy
  • Paragangliomas:
Rare tumors related to pheochromocytomas, developing outside the adrenal gland
  • Thoracic neuroendocrine tumors
Tumors that can develop, in particular, in the lung or thymus
  • Well-differentiated neuroendocrine tumors
Neuroendocrine tumors, sometimes called carcinoid tumors, that can develop in several organs
  • Adrenal tumors:
Adrenocortical tumors, pheochromocytomas, and other adrenal tumors
  • Gastrointestinal neuroendocrine tumors:
Tumors of the gastrointestinal tract or pancreas
  • Other rare endocrine cancers:
Conditions requiring specialized diagnostic and therapeutic expertise

Research and Innovation in Endocrine Cancers

The committee's physicians conduct and coordinate national and international clinical trials focused on thyroid, neuroendocrine, and adrenal cancers. This research focuses in particular on rare, advanced, or treatment-resistant forms of these cancers.

Dr. Julien Hadoux coordinates clinical trials and translational research studies. He also serves as the national coordinator of the ENDOCAN network, which focuses on rare endocrine cancers, and participates in French and European groups that help develop treatment guidelines.
