Breast Health Committee
Director: Dr. Barbara Pistilli, medical oncologist
Multidisciplinary expertise dedicated to serving patients
The Breast Cancer Committee brings together all specialists involved in the diagnosis, evaluation, and follow-up of breast diseases. Each case is reviewed through a multidisciplinary approach to develop a personalized treatment strategy based on the tumor’s characteristics, its extent, and each patient’s medical history and individual circumstances.
This approach closely integrates clinical expertise, imaging, pathology, oncogenetics, nuclear medicine, nursing, and research.
- Breast Abnormalities and High-Risk
Lesions Specialized evaluation of breast abnormalities, complex benign lesions, precancerous lesions, or lesions requiring appropriate monitoring. - Advanced or metastatic
breast cancers Expertise in complex cases, recurrences, and cancers requiring in-depth biological characterization. - Localized
breast cancers Coordinated care from the time of diagnosis, with case review by the committee’s various specialties. - Hereditary
predispositions: Oncogenetic evaluation and support for individuals at high risk, particularly when a familial predisposition is suspected or identified.
The committee's professionals
The committee's composition reflects the diversity of expertise in the field of breast cancer. The names are listed in alphabetical order by last name within each specialty.

Breast Cancer Research
The research focuses in particular on the identification of predictive biomarkers, precision medicine, resistance mechanisms, and the development of new therapeutic strategies.
- UMR 981:
A unit dedicated to molecular predictors and new targets in oncology, led by Prof. Fabrice André. - CANTO Study:
A program dedicated to the long-term adverse effects of breast cancer treatments, led by Dr. Inès Vaz-Luis. - COMPASS-TNBC:
An academic program developed at Gustave Roussy for metastatic triple-negative breast cancer in early relapse.
Samples and data from cohorts and clinical trials can be analyzed to better understand the mechanisms of disease progression and resistance.
The most promising biological findings are driving the development of new strategies for clinical research and precision medicine.
Within UMR 981 (a joint research unit of Inserm, Gustave Roussy, and Paris-Saclay University), the “Molecular Characterization of Gynecologic Cancers” team is conducting research at the intersection of biology, bioinformatics, and clinical practice.
The CANTO cohort is studying the long-term effects of the disease and its management. Other academic programs focus on molecular characterization and cases of resistance or relapse.
